Ed, a beating heart signifies life. If fetus heart is not beating, its not alive. An abortion can had at that point. Thats the purpose of the abortion law. Pro-life/pro-choice groups don't like this law.

Is a “child” viable at 6 weeks. Can it be removed and survive? If so, maybe the state should start caring for those babies. Why force the woman to carry it to term since the state is so concerned.
We all know the real answers.

It was never about viability. It was a bogus strawman. Its one of the weakness of the 1973 ruling.

It is a law designed to go to the SC in an effort to overturn Roe v Wade.
It is a political law - One I disagree with.
I wish abortion never happened. But back -alley illegal abortions - if abortion is outlawed ( which this law does effectively) - are far worse in terms of human misery.
the current compromise - 24 weeks - is abhorred by both sides of extremists.
as such - It is Likely the best compromise available in an emotionally charged argument/debate.
