In Texas it would seem that Mayoral candidates do not have a specific party affiliation. This was news to me when I moved here, as even the small town I grew up in in IL had a Republican Mayor.

True, but Google any mayor or mayoral candidate in Texas and I promise you they will have their party affiliation right next to their name. Semantics aside, partisan politics is alive and well right here in Texas

That being said, they do have policy and issue opinions that one would associate with being a part of a major political party, or are endorsed by people who are members of major political parties.

So conservative mayors are winning because conservatives, especially conservative latinos are coming out to vote.

not all of texas have non-partisan elections. I know Atlanta, GA has one.
