Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Senate Democrats have extended the 11 p.m. curfew for restaurants and bars until May 6.

The requirement for alcohol to be served with a “substantial” amount of food was also extended.

The New York State Legislature last month voted to strip Gov. Cuomo of his emergency powers, but the executive orders he signed while he had the emergency powers were allowed to remain in effect, and the State Legislature can vote to extend the executive orders as their end dates approach.

New York Senate Republicans are calling the 11 p.m. curfew unscientific.

“What happens at 11:02 p.m. that wasn’t happening at 10:58 p.m. in a bar or restaurant?” Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt said. “It’s been clear for months the Governor isn’t following medical science—he’s following political science.”

Might not be scientific but my common sense tells me that from 11 to 2/3 am, you get the party scene crowd, younger crowd getting drunk, not following mask requirements, social distancing, and the easiest common sense answer is, how many meals do you need to consume, since food is required to drink... i mean, i always sit down for dinner at 8pm and eat til 3am, doesnt everyone do that ?

They're required to order food, but that doesn't mean they're going to eat it. After the first round or two, bar patrons are tossing the food or giving it away. The bartenders and owners don't care because they hate this nonsense it as much as their customers do.
It's good to see people are finding ways to get around Cuomo's fuckery.
