Hmmm, that’s an interesting way to look at it, Rhomboid... imho, there will never be a CWII, it’s impossible, if you think that you live in a “free “country, there is no such thing, try the Feds and see what happens, that doesn’t mean that blood won’t be shed on account of civil unrest, I fear that is inevitable...

Even conservatives keep saying the War of Northern Aggression was fought to free slaves.
I turned off Mark Levin when he stated that tonight soon after his talk show began.
I got a sample copy of the Epoch times in the mail yesterday. An article said the War was fought to free slaves.
Ben Shapiro has said the same thing.
Even a lot of Southrons believe it because it is what they have been taught in schools.
Lincoln didn't care one way or the other about slaves, he just wanted to keep his flow of revenue.
The first General he appointed as head of the northern army was pro-slavery.
Many Confederate Generals wanted to see slavery end.
No one is going to make me believe many thousands of Yankees were willing to give their lives to end slavery.
There was never a slave ship flying a Confederate flag. There were lots flying the US flag! and European flags!

I don’t disagree with your opinion, Tuckahoe, interestingly to me, the bombardment of Ft. Sumpter was carried out by South Carolina’s militia, there was no CSA at the time. South Carolina had seceded from the U.S.A., which I could argue that they had the right to do, and told the Feds to get out of South Carolina. The Federals declined, so South Carolina kicked their ass out! My southern roots make me smile a little about that, I can’t help it, lol. As a result of South Carolina’s action, four more southern states seceded from the Union, that sounds like states’ rights to me. One more question, how many times has Puerto Rico declined to be the 51st U.S. state, why do they get a choice?
I’m not trying to influence anyone’s opinion, I just find the discussion on this topic interesting...

Actually, Ft. Sumter was bombarded on 04/12/1861, the CSA was established 02/08/1861, so the CSA did exist... I am enjoying researching it.

Good research.
One of my books describes the Ft. Sumter attack. The Confederates weren't wanting to kill the soldiers in the Ft. They just wanted them off their soil. When a fire broke out near the forts powder magazine, the Southern commander offered to send fire fighting equipment in to try to extinguish the blaze. The fort commander refused.
When the fort did surrender, they were given very liberal terms. I think they were even allowed to keep their small arms.
When ships came to pick up the Union soldiers, the Southern forces lined up on the beach with their hats over their hearts, as the Union soldiers departed.

There was no reciprocity of these liberal terms by the North.
