Waco Kid's college football 2020 week 2
Each week upcoming games can be discussed and predictions made, name-calling after victories and general all-around college football discussion! Each week will be closed out by the next Monday and a new thread opened for the current college football schedule for each week.
Rules -
"Rules?? We don't need no stinkin’ rules!”
Actually we do.
WKWCFR rule 1
"Lies, damn lies and statistics!"
British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli
If you quote a stat, record, 3rd down conversion rate, an all-time mark or the number of jock straps an 85-man team needs ...
Post it! If you can't post a link to it, it's bogus!
What's valid in the Internet age? Just about anything! Any of the major sports publications, local newspapers, any of the big networks and official school and NCAA sites just to cover the big ones.
WKWCFR rule 2
Predictions must be posted 1 day in advance! If you haven't read the sports page and figgured out who's going to win by the day before ya never will!
Must be time stamped before Midnight the day before game-day, for any weekly games Thur-Sun on the current weekly schedule.
So there you have it, pretty basic! You can post on general topics of your favorite teams regardless of that week's opponent. Just remember WKWCFR rule 1

this is going to be one strange brew season. so far .. the Big 10 and PAC 12 will not play fall football. that might change but the window is small. even with a league only slate like the ACC, Big 12 and SEC, if the PAC 12 and BIG 10 aren't playing by the last week of September i don't see them playing till spring.
if that happens there can't be a true playoff and a united champion. at best there will be a split title. if there is any playoffs at all. would the old poll system be invoked? even still you'd have two voted champions. or none at all, voted or playoffs.
for now i'll take 3/5ths a season in the fall as it should be. the PAC 12 and BIG 10 are taking a risk playing in the spring. they also might gain an unfair advantage. the advantage is incoming freshmen get a full season (whether they play in games or not) rather than spring ball only, while the SEC, Big 12 and ACC only get spring practice. the risk to the PAC 12 and Big 10 is injuries that rule out players in the fall, assuming they return to the standard fall schedule for 2021/2022. they also don't get the typical off season training.
i think the SEC, Big 12 and ACC are taking the better route. while their own fall season could get cancelled, they are opting to stay in sync with the traditional schedule. by spring the PAC 12 and Big 10 could be looking at a resurgence of this virus and be forced to cancel their spring season experiment. then they lose an entire season.

nope. no week 1 for the top 25 all games postponed. . so i went with what it is .. week 2 for the top 25
for now the PAC 12 and BIG 10 are planning a spring season. no details on that yet. they still have a few weeks to start a fall season but it doesn't look like they will.

It was really strange watching games with limited crowds or no crowds at all.
Assuming there are bowl games, a team like U. of Texas will get into a higher level bowl game than normal with Big 10 and PAC 12 teams out of the mix.

Texas has a loaded team this year. they'd be looking at a top tier bowl game no matter what. the playoffs even in a normal year would be realistic for Texas this year.
and we may have a real season after all. in the past few days both the BIG TEN and now PAC 12 are reconsidering this "spring season" bullshit .. both are getting buyer's remorse for ruling out fall football too soon it seems ..
Sources: Big Ten inching closer to return-to-play vote
https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-big...212522234.html
Report: Pac-12 eyeing 'mid-to-late November' for football's return
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-pac-...221021224.html
several BIG TEN coaches for one were not happy with the decision not to play, and if you are Ohio State especially it's obvious why as they were projected as a top 5 team going into this season. they were in fact ranked number 2 in the preseason poll.
the BIG TEN is ahead of the PAC !2 it seems, they are aiming for mid October if they decide to play. why the PAC 12 can't do the same isn't clear except they apparently aren't doing anything at all in terms of prep. the BIG TEN apparently kept it's options open rather than shutting down completely with some organized activities
if the BIG TEN decides to play the PAC 12 will follow, they have to. who would they play in the spring without the BIG TEN?
so we may yet get a real playoff with all parties concerned. no matter what, the SEC, ACC and Big 12 would have held a playoff between themselves. and with Notre Dame in the mix as they are a full member of the ACC for this year. they also had no choice because about half their games are traditionally against BIG TEN and PAC 12 teams.
don't expect ND to become a full time member of the ACC for football, this is a one-off deal due to this virus stuff, ND prefers to be an independent in football, unlike basketball and could have joined the BIG TEN or ACC long ago if they wanted to.
and speaking of the BIG TEN and the Big 12, they should swap names LOL. the Big 12 is now only 10 teams and the BIG TEN has 12.
BAHHAHHAAAAA
