Many places are starting to return to their pre-COVID activities, despite the current virus situation. But several are also asking or demanding a premium for these services.

Legit places are doing the same. "Well, we had to buy these air purifiers and sanitizing supplies..." The typical $60/hr is now $80. But, I've noticed the handie-oriented ones are still $60.

Could this be the new clue? Low fee = high chance of extras?

Glad to see you use the word "legit" the same way I do: as a place operating legally. The legit places I frequent are either closed or remain the same on pricing. The extas places are where I am reading increased prices originating. It's what the johns are accepting. I wouldn't put up with it. My dentist wanted to charge a sanitation fee, so I changed dentists. My doctor wanted to charge me the same for a virtual visit as an in-person visit. I made them see me personally and clean up after me. Y'all can spend your money the way you want. I like mine spent my way.

There are also places that are operating legally as far as extra activities are concerned, but they are illegal in the sense that they are receiving money from the state for being closed, yet taking appointments. Those also seem to be charging the same in my experience.

What types of business are being paid by the state to remain closed?

When you and billo’ mention legit places, I’m assuming you mean places that don’t offer handjobs or stand there and tease while you jerk off, not YMMV, I mean zero sexually-oriented services for anyone, as those services are also prostitution and thus illegal. Is that correct?

Personally, I haven’t seen fee increases at any of the subAMPS. I mostly visit places that are YMMV/L1 and rarely places that offer anything more, and have only been to the L1 places since Covid-19. If they, my dentist or doctor passed on some of their increased cost of delivering service to me and they were truly doing more sanitizing, I’d pay it. If they accept your health insurance, they have to charge any added fees or equal charge for a remote consultation, or it’s considered insurance fraud. I hope you don’t presume any added costs are veiled attempts to fleece you. Believe me, a busy LMT, DDS or MD doesn’t live or die by your twenty bucks.

I don't know for certain about Billo, but that is what I mean by legit.

I'm no insurance expert, but I don't believe a dentist office or doctor is required to pass along any cost. I've had freebies before. The insurance company may or not cover whatever, according to their contact and billing schedule. But when i go to a doctor they check my weight, blood pressure, temperature, along with a visual check, and feel the glands. With a virtual visit they do none of these, but I am billed the same when the doctor only talks with me over the phone. For me, if they are doing less work, they should get less money.
I have seen some of the lack of cleanliness at some very well-known L1 places, and even with the added precautions of mask wearing their laziness still is apparent when it comes to sheet changing of all things, mush less the smaller things like door handles. It's almost comical. I personally would not consider going into an L1 or higher place unless I was first one in the door.

But that's just me....and my humble opinion.

They’re not supposed to charge for things they don’t do. I know a little about insurance billing. Talking face to face vs telemedicine is considered to be of equal value and at least for now, insurers that cover telemedicine do so at the in-office rate. If they didn’t examine you, they should not bill for a visit that was supposed to include an exam.

Regarding fee mandates, they’re seldom enforced, but professionals paid by insurers aren’t supposed to write off deductibles or co-insurance, whether they’re fixing your wrecked car, replacing your roof or replacing your hip.

I will bow to your knowledge of insurance matters. Not something I deal with much. All i was trying to state was that I don't want to pay extra for the same or extra services, which is what I feel is occurring now, with COVID being used as an excuse. There are a few places taking cleanliness seriously. But my feeling is that they are not the norm.

Agree, Junebug. Other factor is that it only costs a buck or two in disinfectant, masks and time to use them. This means their profit on sanitation might be higher than their margin in massage plus extras LOL.
