Anyone here ever do spontaneous trips?

Wondering if members here ever do spontaneous trips, or even meetup sometimes.

My work has on and off gaps, so I’m thinking of a trip somewhere, with CR on the short list.

I’d be going solo since friends in real life are not (or have not admitted being) into the scene. I actually don’t mind that, having an appreciation for solitude.

But hey if anyone is heading down feel free to PM me. If I end up choosing CR it will be partly because you get fantastic hiking as well so anyone would be welcome to join. Or at least we could hit a bar to share notes over a beer. If someone wanted to go luxury I’d even consider going in half’s on a top shelf rental. yolo and all.

Hope this message isn’t too weird, like I say I just don’t discuss my hobbies in real life.

I'm in the same boat, need some travel buddies who are into the hobby, I'm bilingual so that's something less I have to worry about once I finally make it down

I don't generally do spontaneous trips to Costa Rica, due to the cost and time of travel. But if you ever want a quick trip to Tijuana, let me know.

I wouldn't say I do spontaneous trips but I book spontaneously. I check the airfares daily so I can book a flight once a month out and I buy them all in advance. Minute the fare drops I'll buy for 2-5 months out. I currently have bookings for every month thru the end of the year so now I am looking for January and February.

escapeATX for example and other cities have them too are great way to get fares, some last minute.

I don't know if the following exists anywhere in the USA but in the Frankfurt Airport there is a non-specific airline ' last minute deals' kiosk. You pack your suitcase go to the airport walk up and find a deal out that day; usually it is the airlines who didn't fill up the seats that is leaving that day and you got wherever you can find a deal.
