Waco Kid's college football 2019 week 15
Each week upcoming games can be discussed and predictions made, name-calling after victories and general all-around college football discussion! Each week will be closed out by the next Monday and a new thread opened for the current college football schedule for each week.
Rules -
"Rules?? We don't need no stinkin’ rules!”
Actually we do.
WKWCFR rule 1
"Lies, damn lies and statistics!"
British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli
If you quote a stat, record, 3rd down conversion rate, an all-time mark or the number of jock straps an 85-man team needs ...
Post it! If you can't post a link to it, it's bogus!
What's valid in the Internet age? Just about anything! Any of the major sports publications, local newspapers, any of the big networks and official school and NCAA sites just to cover the big ones.
WKWCFR rule 2
Predictions must be posted 1 day in advance! If you haven't read the sports page and figgured out who's going to win by the day before ya never will!
Must be time stamped before Midnight the day before game-day, for any weekly games Thur-Sun on the current weekly schedule.
So there you have it, pretty basic! You can post on general topics of your favorite teams regardless of that week's opponent. Just remember WKWCFR rule 1

I don't think UGA has enough fire power to go with LSU's revamped offense, so, I'll go with LSU.
Wisconsin is not going to beat OSU with just a stud running back, so I will go with OSU (I am ssuming there are no more Watts on Wisconsin playing DE.)
Clemson, that's not even worth discussing. The ACC has become a joke now.
Boise State - I'll never bet against them and their aweseome/obnoxious blue field ever again.
Big 12 - I don't give a shit about either team. Neither one of them should be in the playoffs and I don't know why the talking media heads even discuss it.
Because of Tony Pollard for the Cowboys, I take Memphis. Because of Travis Kelce for the Chiefs, I take Cincy. Does my logic remotely make any fucking sense to anyone about this game? Of course not because it does not even make any sense to me. I just want to watch a good game

LSU and Ohio State are the two top teams as i see it now. Clemson and the ACC, well ignore Clemson at your own risk. they are the defending champ. the ACC's overall strength doesn't mean Clemson can't win the title again. i think you have to go all the way back to Nebraska in the poll era for a repeat champ. no one as done it yet in either the BCS or playoff format.
many people still remember that Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma when the Smurfs won on some great plays, that hook and ladder, the Statue of Liberty play. being a Longhorns fan i enjoyed that immensely. Stoops didn't make any excuses post game, i'll give him that. when asked about Boise's "trick" plays, Stoops said "we knew about them, they executed them".
i'm picking Baylor simply as a bet against ZerOU. i may regret that. lol. Baylor had ZerOU on the ropes then choked. if they play like the first half for the whole game they can beat ZerOU.
if i was betting i'd take ZerOU. they may end up mauling the Bears.
the Memphis vs. Cincy game might be the most intriguing game of the day. they just played last week. Memphis pulled away as i predicted. can they do it again?
if as expected the three undefeated teams win out, LSU, Ohio State and Clemson, probably Utah gets in assuming they beat Oregon. that leaves a one loss team out, either Baylor or ZerOU. there will be an 8 team format eventually, probably within the next 5 years or so. it looks like the format would be the conference champ of the power 5 and 3 at-large. the best independent probably ND and/or a group of 5 team. also possibly a one loss Power 5 team.
if i had to pick the title game now, i'd pick LSU vs. Ohio State. very old school .. the Big 10 vs. the SEC.
one thing is clear, if there had been a playoff format in the past, probably half the "voted" winners would have lost. that would shake up quite a few school's trophy cases!

This year there was little doubt who would be the 4 in the playoffs! Just the ranking of the top 2 seeds lsu and osu. Its a very big deal this year, not just for the prestige!
Neither lsu or osu really wanted to play Clemson in the opening round! The reaction of the players during the selection show earlier showed a sigh of relief in lsu!
Both lsu and osu had the resume to be number 1.
In the end it should be lsu and osu in the championship game! But nobody really wanted to draw Clemson! For good reason....

I agree. Clemson didn’t look great early in the season. But they have speed everywhere and their QB has won it already. I like them to win it this year too.

i'd say LSU as the number 1 seed got the better match up for them. ZerOU has improved its defense but they are still outside the top 40 in points allowed. LSU has the better defense by far, capable of shutting down ZerOU.
Ohio State, given they drew Clemson might benefit from getting smacked in the mouth by Whiskey because they responded and took Whiskey out of the game in the 2nd half. that might be the difference maker in a close fight with Clemson.
if i had to call it today ... and i am ..
LSU wins easy over ZerOU. Ohio State and Clemson go down to the wire in a dogfight. edge to Brutus Buckeye.
i'll wait to see how those games play out for making a pick on a possible LSU vs. Ohio State match up.

yep. Clemson wasn't really impressive early, while still winning most of their games easily but then there is the UNC game where the Mackster nearly beat them. Clemson has upped their game as the season went along. i think Lawrence fell victim to not quite the sophomore slump but he tried too hard for big plays early and was turning the ball over too much. you can do that against Syracuse and still win. try that against LSU or Ohio State and you likely lose. i think Dabo settled Lawrence down by running the ball more and giving him quicker, shorter reads on passes.
i just gave Ohio State the edge by the slightest of margins over Clemson because they responded when Whiskey punched them in the mouth. had them on their heels down 21-7 to open the 2nd half then suddenly it's 21-17 and Ohio State pulled away and didn't let Whiskey get back in it. while i may change my mind before i make my Bowl picks, i'm giving Brutus Buckeye the edge over Clemson because of the Whiskey game and how they responded. it might have been better for Clemson if Virginia had more fight in them but as a 3 loss team they were clearly the lessor of the other teams, Baylor who nearly beat ZerOU with their backs QB's, Whiskey who mauled Minnesota to get to the title game and looked like they were gonna do it again .. for 30 minutes lol and UGA. LSU smacked UGA which tells you how good they really are. while Clemson easily destroyed Virginia as expected a stronger opponent as a test might have served them better.
i expect LSU to win easy. Clemson vs. Ohio State might be a classic and set up the winner to go toe to toe with LSU.

LSU clearly played the toughest schedule. They deserve to be #1. Clemson and Ohio State plated against weaker completion. Especially Clemson. But Clemson has been to the dance and won. This will be the first appearance by OSU with their current coach and QB. Talent wise, I give Clemson the edge over OSU. Same with coaching. Wisconsin isnt all that good. Probably lose in the Rose bowl.
