I was downsized in 2013 after 45 years. I'm not at all bitter because I saw many others downsized over the years who were excellent employees and I was at a time in my life where I could move into retirement rather easily.
I have many friends who have retired and are enjoying their lives immensely. Two couples sold their homes and spend a great deal of time traveling in their elaborate trailers. Not for me. Several others moved out of the U.S. -- Portugal, Ajijic, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica. Again not for me. Others travel the world. That is me.
I too am 73 and we are in what a friend says is the "decade of death" -- life expectancy for men is 76 in the U.S. There are no guarantees.
