Default How dangerous is Rio?

Wanting to visit Rio, and I will be alone. I've read that it's seriously dangerous. I want to visit quatro por quatro and I know you better bring $400 bucks at least. Yet, I've read don't go walking around with more than 30 brl cause you can get jacked. What if the money gets stolen from the terma locker? Is it safe to take a cab from GIG to Zona sul with $3000 cash? I'd appreciate advic from people that know instead of guess. Peace.

If you PM me your email address I'll send you B'Wana Dick's guide to Rio. Unless you know either Spanish or Portuguese pretty well you should not go by yourself. You just will not have as much fun.

Yes Rio can be serious dangerous if you have never been there but can be very safe if you follow a few rules.

At night don't walk, take a taxi unless you are with a group or know the area very well.

Terma lockers are 1000% safe. You don't have to worry there.

DO NOT take that much cash with for short trips to Termas or clubs. I would say never more than $1,000.

Taxis are very safe.

For the first timer, being alone it is best to stay in either Copa or Inpanema and in a hotel.

If at all possible try to go with someone who has been there.

Big Louie- thanks for the answers, I'll pm you with the email.

Yes, I speak Spanish. I'm not fluent, but I have found that if I speak Spanish, suprisingly the Brasilians can understand me. It's difficult to get friends on board for a Rio trip. The visa requirement is a pain in the arse and not many people want to mess with it. Plus, its gonna be expensive. If the taxi's are safe, and I dont have to worrry about the Terma locker, the rest of the danger can be mitigated. I plan on staying in Copa.

Again, thank you.

Yankee7 who post on here just got back and can give you a run down on which termas are hopping right now and what clubs to go to. Read the guide I sent you. They are spot on for the places to eat. I thought they were way to harsh on the termas Centaruous, it's my favorite place. You can skip the part on Help disco. It's close.

I just got back over a week ago and headed back again tomorrow. I travel everywhere alone but I blend in pretty good. Im with Biglouie, travel with someone if you can. I wouldnt take much cash on me and I have paid with credit card at all the Thermas without anyproblems but of course dont use payment with access to all your funds. Monte Carlo is nice but I loved Luomo the best so far.

Credit cards is good because all the thieves know they can't use them without ID so they want cash only. L'Uomo can be a lot of fun.

Rio de Janeiro is a very dangerous city, so be careful when carrying valuables like watches, gold, and cell phones.

The 4x4 is very safe and you will love the girls there!

Another option is to hire freelance escorts on websites. I trust https://www.ilhadoprazer.com.br/acompanhantes-rj
