How? Is CNN/WaPo and other outlets oversampling California when they do a poll? I get it. In order to sell impeachment the Dim media has to set a foundation of believable outrage. The outrage feed back will loop and justify itself.
If things don't realistically pick up for the Dims the effect will be devastating. I don't see how they are getting the whistleblowers name from getting out.

Here again it depends on which poll you care to believe in. The recent NY Times/Siena College poll you cited indicates a very close race in key battleground states between various Democratic candidates and Trump, almost all within the margin of error.
However, in a recent Quinnipiac poll (late August), Trump trails Biden by 16%, Sanders by 14%, and Warren by 12%.
And in the most recent FOX News poll published 3 days ago, Trump trails Biden by 12%, Sanders by 8%, and Warren by 5%, all above the 3% sampling error.
Both Quinnipiac and FOX are highly rated polling companies with well above average success rate.
I don't believe either of their polls. I tend to put more faith in the NY Times/Sienna College poll.
As for your question about whether or not impeachment polls are biased -- I doubt it.
Here are the latest numbers from 538. Support for impeachment has dropped significantly. At one point support was 15% higher than not support. Questions have not changed. Attitudes have changed:
48.3% support impeachment
44.8% do not support
Broken down by party:
83.6% of Democrats support impeachment
45.6% of Independents support
11.1% of Republicans support
