I think you underestimate the dislike that voters, other than the very loyal Trump base, have for Trump. It is showing up in his approval rating. How those approval ratings translate to votes in November 2020 is unknown.
Trump is setting donation records. 61% from small donors. Somebody likes him. I think you overstate Trump hatred among independents and moderate Democrats. I don’t think it’s as a great as the MSM or polls suggest.

That's the key - how will that translate into votes. I know many voters dislike Trump. But that does not not necessarily mean that they won't vote for Trump. There's been many times in business that I disliked a person yet I supported them. Or I disliked their regulations but I still supported them. I think that it's a mistake to think that just because you disagree with someone or not like them means you automatically will support someone else. I think the American public is smarter then that when it comes to picking the right person for the job in totality.

He was going broke...felt sorry for his bad financial decision for wanting to become President

Nixon was far from "Likeable".
Whether or not one personally likes or dislikes Trump - the key is to compare his policies v the proposed policies of the DPST nominee. Warren and Sanders, and others, are so far Leftist and unrealistic of economic consequences of giving away the Treasury, that Sane people will not support them.
IMHO

That’s what it will come down to. All other bullshit aside.

You and Bambino and OEB could be very correct in your opinions. Right now all we have is speculation and hope.

What makes you think they will keep their campaign promises. Is that a thing now? Trump hasn't built a "Beautiful Wall" and got Mexico to pay. His specific promises haven't panned out. Make America Great Again" is vague.

Why is one zombie overtaking another zombie actually of any interest or worthy of a news report?

I can't say that for sure, but if they do it will be nothing but chaos.
