The Democrats voted how Democrats vote. The Republicans should be ashamed of themselves. They're trying to score a moral victory by badly hacking together a badly thought out bill with a name no real "politician" could afford to vote against to do something, poorly and dangerously, that other laws could have mostly handled.
If the product is defective one has every right to sue, but if a product is misused by someone breaking the law why should the company be held responsible? If you can't sue gun companies for one bad customer (which you shouldn't) then you shouldn't be able to sue Craigslist, Facebook, Google, etc...
