I'm afraid United States TER is no more as well. Might not hurt to look into p411.

I recommend P411 - great clients - never had a problem on there.

The short answer to your question is actually simple.

ASPD overlapped ECCIE and was made to look just like it.

People (me included) heard about ECCIE on ASPD

If I recall, at first (maybe still somewhere) all or a whole of the old ASPD threads were available on ECCIE.

Given the reason for this potential shutdown - the new law - no such smooth transition is likely as any new site would have the same issues as the old. If this law sticks, game over.

ECCIE existed long before ASPD went down and was one of several growing their membership as many looked for alternatives to the corruption present on ASPD.

how did folks find out about eccie?

Many were already members of it and other sites and word spread

were there other local contender web sites for the Austin hang out zone for the hobby?

Yes. They all competed to host the exodus but ECCIE was the one that flourished.

if ECCIE does go down, and if another replacement pops up to replace it from an out of country site, how do we all find it and end up there?.

You know somebody that knows somebody that knows somebody that knows......... and tells somebody

When things changed, did the providers all change names and start over with a new identity?

A few did.... Mostly to get away from bad pasts.... Most kept their existing handles

did the mongers turn to street walkers during the down time?

There was no down time....

I am curious to learn from the past of ebbs and flow of this local hobby market. anyone want to expound on the history of this sort of change in the local community?

If this and other sites went away there will be a lot of cash starved whores competing for dollars and wishing they had maintained a better stable of regulars. Those that have regulars will probably be more appreciative and willing to adjust to keep them.....

The biggest problem Amber had with ASPD was in trusting her ADMIN and staff when she got sick to run things properly. Before she passed she listened to some and realized what CK and his cronies had done to the site and removed him reinstating one of her old trusted Admins that tried to save the site.

The demise of ASPD was due to an all too familiar problem that occurs when a sole owner passes away without a will in place and/or power of attorney that authorizes someone else to access funds, pay bills etc.....

There was also a typical feud / power struggle between family members which was sad but predictable.

It's sad to see some take shots at Amber for the way she hacked her way through the code trying to constantly improve ASPD. As she did it her motives were not to make it such that upgrades would not work.... She just tried always to give members what they wanted..... even when she knew better (she was against letting the whores post in forums for example)

Attacks on ASPD caused issues as well but not mentioned were that often the attacks were actually on CK and his cronies that made some internet enemies and he lacked the ability to set aside pride and find solutions......

People can say whatever negative you want about Amber and her efforts, She created and ran (if not the first???) the top escort review site in Texas at the time and that made other's want to try to get a piece of. Several other sites spun off from it to stake their place out on the web.

As ASPD faltered there was an effort by the returning Admin to create a new site but there was also a desire to get rid of all the bugs and issues ASPD had and they simply got it up and running too late to capture the membership....

People tried a variety of sites but it was the owners/admins of ECCIE that captured the membership making appealing offers to guys for posting their reviews here and installing many of the ASPD staff here which gave a "friendly" face to the place.

Lost to many is the fact that ECCIE did not evolve with the closing of ASPD. It was already a successful site growing daily before ASPD floundered. I don't remember when ECCIE launched but I joined a good 6-8 months prior to ASPD folding. CK and his cronies caused a lot of the issues that were problematic for the site and many members were leaving long before Amber's turn for the worse which caused her distress.

Look back to early postings and absent in all the staff ECCIE DID bring on board from ASPD was CK1942.... His "talents" and attitude were not welcomed by the operators of this site in regards to running it.....

In the beginning of the migration to ECCIE quite a few ASPD Mods were installed here and immediately went work trying to corrupt this site the way they had ASPD. Being an ASPD Moderator had become quite a lucrative position under the leadership of CK. Corruption flourished and pockets were lined.....

Owners here were much more willing to listen and look and, one by one, former ASPD mods were kicked to the curb here in Austin as well as other places. There was a huge shift in the make-up of the place and the little power mongers were done away with. Some are bitter still.

Most of those that know the real stories are long gone but not hard to find if you filter out the noise from those that tried to keep them from being known.....

That is a wager you would lose......

CK was the ADMIN of ASPD for many years. Along the way though he sold his soul for pussy....

CK was removed as ADMIN shortly before the site was lost when the extent of the damage caused under his watch was realized.....

As ECCIE grew, MANY ASPD staff were brought on board by ECCIE but CK was not one of them.

That is a very easily verified fact that says a lot in and of itself.....

All the staff in Austin and San Antonio that were tight and loyal to CK were also kicked to the curb very quickly by ECCIE.

Many of the stories are posted on this site for anyone that wants to dig them out.....

According to the whois database, eccie.net was created on March 8, 2009.

Looking at the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, the first snapshot of eccie.net was taken on March 21, 2009

The wayback machine's view of aspd.net is pretty interesting. It shows lots of changes from late 1999 through 2005, none in 2006 and 2007, then again some in 2008 and lots in 2009, then none from early 2010 until late 2012 and sporadic since then. Somebody still owns it, but there's nothing currently there that's publicly accessible.

Btw, googling ASPD brought up all kinds of interesting results.

I also learned that ASPD was a play on the old alt.sex.prostitution discussion newsgroup.

I hate to even attempt to add any facts to W's theoretical b.s., but ck1942 was never THE ADMIN.

That was always busty girl, the mother hen, Amber. She sometimes gave additional inside admin powers to her s.o. and to one tech consultant that I recall.

ck was one of four or five admins in the central support group at any one time who guarded the site during registration processing, provider validation and certain support needs.

At any one time there were many other admins in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and a couple other cities including San Francisco, and several did double duty in the support group.

Probably something like 20 or more "admins" at varying times during the life span of the board.

After spending the better part of 7 years adminning and moderating, when my position was eliminated I recovered more than 40 hours of time per week and put it into paying the rack rate -- just as I always have -- for "funners" as the late Dennisrn used to say. Never wanted a position here since I have one elsewhere so not being offered or considered bothered me not a bit.

Yes, there's a lot of stories out there dissembling facts but not history.

Reading all the posts here just reaffirms that reality is very much colored by where we stand and what pieces of the jigsaw puzzle we see.

As best as I know, I have never met any of the people posting on this thread. It could be true that all are honestly saying what they believe to be true--and it is even possible that most of what everyone is saying IS true.

But I very much believe some info doesn't fit together.

I do not know who was responsible for the coding problems late in ASPD's life, but from some very skilled code readers/disassemblers I know who saw it, it was a mess. Fixable? Probably with a fair bit of effort, i.e. $$$$. Even if there was no internecine warfare going on it probably was not worth fixing and should have been redone from scratch. Too bad the data was not saved and made available. As with any such thing, there are far more fingers being pointed at supposed guilty people than there were actual guilty parties.

But some of what went on was more than bad code. Some people were appointed as mods late in the web site's life who were bad, corrupt people who used the site for their own personal gain and profit. Some "seem to be" gone, some are still here with their same handles but stay out of the public eye on these forums they used to dominate, and I know at least one or two who are far too busy with their forced vacation to be on here at all. Odd thing is, all the ones I know who were taken away for some seriously bad stuff--including not only outing people to their families and work, but also blackmail and threatening/carrying out physical harm to some--were very much hostile to CK at the time.

So while I can't vouch for CK's character directly, I have a lot of people I trust who vouch for him directly, and I know a lot of his adversaries were first class scum. That is some significant circumstantial evidence about the man. Far more than I have for some on the other side of the argument.

one sure thing that can be said about CK many tend to agree with.

He throws good parties.

In all the years there was only one party that had undercover police officers in the mix that were vouched for and present at the time the lights came on and a raid began that yielded multiple arrests and charges as well as a few videos of folks leaving that made network news

^^^
Yup, that was the Houston XMAS social in December, 2009, in which the after hours venue "sold out" the group. Venue was running the door, charged all entering their usual 30 bucks and guests either contributed 10 bucks to the xmas fund or a new stuffed toy. Organizers later delivered 76 toys and 400 in cash to the battered women's shelter instead of the intended original Blue Santa fund, run by HPD.

Multiple arrests! Yes, especially painful I am sure for the 12 people going downtown out of the more than 125 who were still still there from the original 200 plus when we about to make last call and the cops rolled in.

Everyone one of those arrested was nabbed due to their blatant disregard for the event rules, or so the cops alleged; 4 (or 5 ?) agency ladies without green cards were deported. One lady spent 22 days in the cooler for traffic warrants, couple other ladies and couple of gents pleaded deferred adjudication or waited out the prosecution and those cases were dismissed.

To the best of my personal knowledge, and I ran most of the guest vetting, not a single UC wasever admitted except those by the venue which had been threatened with loss of its liquor license absent cooperation.

No UC female and no UC male was ever identified to me as having been vouched.

As for so-called "network news!"

One indie freelancer shot some video and the one station that broadcast anything was film of the backsides (mine included ) of several folks leaving and a little bit more. I don't recall any faces shown.

The so-called bust didn't even make the Houston Chronicle, the city's only major newspaper even though LE said the investigation of high priced call girls and johns had lasted months and months.

btw, the Houston PD chief at the time was fired not long after by the openly gay mayor.

Too bad the council had hired him without considering the fact that he would cost the city of Phoenix multi-millions of dollars in federal lawsuits for busting the gay sex clubs and losing circuit court appeals and being turned down by the Supreme Court, too.

Even the vice (and not so vice) cops at the bust were very polite and respectful to all us; did not check any id's except for an initial 15 people; were openly dismissive of the action itself; and one ranking officer apologized to me for the disruption and told us we could come back after the operation was concluded and allowed a couple of dozen to stay inside to clear our bar tabs, which I announced to the crowd.

Yes, there was big lesson learned by those who broke the event rules and talked P4P with any of the UCs, and by the organizers who have learned much more about practical security when we run the door instead of the venue and when we have guests educated to respect the rules and report those who don't.

Happy Hobbying!
