At 40 one hears little weird noises the body makes when doing normal things...little grinds, thunks, and creaks not evident before.

At 50 they become louder and more orchestrated, definitely getting one's attention, developing a pathway for sincere concern as the frequency and intensity of them ramp up. Tasks become a little more difficult to accomplish because of the associated noise and resistance. It takes more focus and effort to accomplish in more time what one could do effortlessly in a snap at 30.

At 60, those loud noises, creaks, and bumps become clangs, shrieks, and squeals. One looks back, down, and around thinking something fell off that may actually be needed in the future.
