The terms were not disclosed, but it will probably leak out eventually. Does anyone want to do an over/under on the settlement amount? My guess is more than $5,000,000. I'll bet the settlement talks (which didn't take long) went something like this:

United Lawyer: What will it take to wrap this up?
Plaintiff Lawyer: We can make it go away for $xx,xxx,xxx.
United Lawyer: Add a confidentiality agreement and we have a deal.
Total negotiation time, less than 10 minutes.

I was watching the news last night and saw the riot at the Fort Lauerdale airport. Spirit Airlines had canceled some flights. Spirit is the absolive worst airline in America, cheapest fares and least amenities. So you can imagine the type of flyer they attract.

In the mid-ninties, I started flying to Rio to hobby. I lived in Midland-Odessa at the time, so I flew on AA. This was when AA was flying the Saab turbo props short hops. Then flight were DFW to MIA and then Mia to GIG (Rio). The first trip I almost missed the Rio flight. My Dallas flight ended
at Term E and the Rio flight left from
TERM D. I was the last to board and they had held the flight for me. All went well after that except they just didn't feed you enough back in coach.

The next year I decided to remedy those problems by arriving in MIA much earlier in the day. In time to eat at that good Cuban place and catch the earlier AA flight to Rio at 7:30pm. Then if something went wrong, I could probably catch the late flight at 11 pm. Someone once said "plans otfen go astray" and they sure did on this trip. I had bought my consolidator ticket about 8 months before the trip. AA decided to close that flight, thei computer automatically booked me a new itinary, which was the dame
