this article bothers me to the core.. the wealthy Chinese whose egos require them to have their "own" children (or baby #2 that they are now legally allowed to have).. the US parents who sell themselves for a big cash payout, with no emotional ties to the impending child.. prostitutes, really.
meanwhile, there are legions of children around the world waiting for adoptive parents. the underlying thesis, I think, is children are a commodity.. property.. why would both parties, the surrogate and the "buyer", go through the legal, medical, and financial hurdles if big money and personal egos were not controlling forces?
I find the whole process pathetic.
