Charlie's 3rd season (2012) at Louisville was Teddy Bridgewater's sophomore year....if you recall, the team had gone thru the "growing pains" of a 7-6 season; playing (then starting) him as a frosh QB in 2011...

Though the sample size is small (one game thus far) Buechelle does not appear to be your run-of-the-mill (true) freshman QB. That said, a successful running game (Warren, Freeman, Swoopes, etc) can and will breed even more confidence within himself and the entire team. If teams choose the stack the box then, he's already shown he has a strong (and pinpoint accurate) arm.

This team may not play in another game this season that had the same amount of drama, emotion, anticipation, etc as Sunday night's did. No matter. They look hungry and oh so ready to start winning. It will be interesting to see how far this two-headed qb scheme can carry the offense this year....

Strong in fact had two straight 7-6 seasons. then posted 11-2 and 12-1. i think there are some early indications Buechele is similar to Bridgewater as a calm under fire play maker. Bridgewater made some insane plays of UofL ... like this one ...

i think you'll see Gilbert keep teams guessing with the QB's. he'll have Swoopes take deep shots down field when the defense thinks he's gonna run. Swoopes might have the strongest arm of all the UT QB's but he struggles with decision making and touch and accuracy. not much decision to make on a streak route with some of the speed UT has now at wide receiver. just throw it!

likewise Buechele will get some designed runs at the right time. Buechele will never be VY running the ball but then again neither was Colt. but Colt was athletic enough to make the offense dynamic. Buechele can do the same. i'd like some more muscle on him but that's just time in the program. he apparently already bulked up some but he's got more to go. Colt was nothing short of scrawny until his junior year. Buechele will get there too. just a matter of time
