seems like now you have to give these muther fuckers
1) ssn
2) dl copy
3) an old bill with your name on it to prove an address.. then they will get back to you in 3-10 business days
and let you know if you are approved

seems like the government wants to know more and more

I have looked everywhere I can think of. can't seem to find one

In the 1980s I worked in the Middle East on oil rigs. Often there could be some trade with workers from Indonesia, India etc ; stuff like a Python skin or Tiger teeth and the like. One thing I did (could do) back then was to buy Traveler's Checks and not sign them. Not always possible but if you get to know your bank teller . . . . Anyway, someone from an exotic place would accept this as cash because any restrictions on currency in his home country did not apply to the Traveler's Checks, and he could negotiate them as his own at home.

Stop right now: I know and understand all the pros and cons. It was possible back then and worked.

What is the drill for Traveler's Checks now? Do you get a card or something and go through all the crap described in the OP?

You can still buy non-reloadable GIFT cards anonymously with cash and use them for many things. One thing you can't ordinarily do with them is foreign transactions.

It should be activated at register if you buy a prepaid visa. The only time they ask is if you buy gas then they want a zip code.

I have never had this issue and I have used prepaid cards before. They are usually accepted for anything and anywhere without requiring any additional information. You can send me a PM and I would be happy to provide you with a few cards that don't require any of your information.

Reloadable cards do require your personal information. But, you can still buy one-time use cards (Visa, MC) at most places that are still good even on the internet, but only on US hosted sites. Sadly, most porn sites use foreign transaction services, so those cards won't work. Nor will they work for hobby membership sites, which also use foreign transaction services. The good news is most hobby sites will accept CIM (cash or check in mail).

If you are trying to buy porn anonymously, many sites will accept brand name gift cards (Best Buy, Target, Starbucks), which you can buy for cash. It can be a pain in the ass to use them as you don't always get full membership privileges, such as changing your user name and password. Depends on your risk/reward balance and your need to remain totally anonymous online. Well no one is totally anonymous. You just want to make it hard and a lot of work to trace your online presence to your personal information.

Which is what the feds are after - they want to know what everyone is doing online. Big brother is here and he's watching.

The ones which can be reloaded like AMEX Serve do require real world contact information, ID, and they only issue a temporary card in the store with the legit one that has your name being sent to your address. But the gift cards which can only be loaded once (usually up to $500) don't require any identifying information.
