I would recommend airport area, and avoid downtown.

Restaurants...

Since you mention Mexican as a favorite in your profile, people here like Los Barrios, La Fogata (personal favorite), Paloma Blanca, Los Robertos, etc...I'm sure there are others people will mention. Just a few I remembered from previous threads.

Can't go wrong with Pat O Briens downtown. Block from the alamo and river walk. Amazing Hurricanes and great food. Josephine Street is great place for steak, sandwiches, burgers etc. Highly recommend.

Airport Area for Hotel (I'll be down in SA this coming week. If I remember correctly the last time we met you really liked my suspenders. Maybe one of us can get tied up with them this time)
