What ever happened to the live nude show boutiques?

Any old timers here remember the era of live nude girls doing performances in adult boutiques? The Eros Adult Store on Walnut Hill Lane and before that back in the late 80's and early 90's there was a place called Show World right downtown on Elm Street around Pearl if memory serves. Also I recall one somewhere up on the north side around Lewisville or Frisco in a semi rural area. Show World often featured Porn Stars like Amber Lynn as well as maybe 5 or 6 regular girls live on small stages you had access to through a booth with a piece of plexiglass separating you from the girls. Access was timed through adding tokens to a slot in a gizmo that brought down a window shade when you ran out. A hole in the window for tips dictated what the girl would do.

Whatever happened to these places? Where they shut down by the city or vice? They were a good cheap thrill and I got to wondering if they were run off by the law or just gave way to competition from jack shacks.

If you mean they were nudged out of the market by strip clubs that could be but they co-existed with them for years along with other relics from that era like the X rated traditional movie house which existed in a theater seating style format which was really creepy. I tend to think the city drove them out though the same way they drove out the Harry Hines street game. Those places were definitely the seediest of the sex-trade shops. Show World was right smack dab on one of Dallas' busiest downtown corners. For a while they shared a building with a store that sold police gear which was weird.

Existing along with them were a few hole-in-the wall combination nude clubs/mini brothels dotting West Northwest Hwy just East of I-35 which were dingy little dives featuring desperate girls who couldn't get hired at the regular strip clubs. The Dallas strip club scene has gotten more upscale in a sense since all this.

Used to be one in the corner of 35/stemons and regal row but now it's a strip club. I used to like this myself but I guess the Internet live porn shows killed them off.

I miss these too. I remember a few visits to Eros and the final sad one, where I found out it was closed down. Someone could get a lot of nostalgic visits if they opened up a similar type of experience. I miss the "Golden Age"!

Those places were fun. Video porn gallery with live girls in private booths. My fave was ShowWorld but it's been gone for at least 20 years. Don't know why though?

I used to frequent Eros before I found out about internet providers. Occasionally you could come up on a walker or two in there.

There's that yellow building off harry hines. Only went in it once. Sexy women.... I got freaked out because evidently you go into a room with them for a "show" and I was young aND too paranoid for my own good.
