Default Trooper Who Arrested Sandra Bland Indicted On Misdomeaner Charge

I suppose the DA has to throw some bone to placate the mob.

The Familly says it's not enough. This is the same Familly that left her in jail for over 3 days because nobody wanted to put up a $500 bail.

If he gets popped for the perjury charge, it will keep him out of LE for awhile.

If he gets popped .....

The key paragraph is:

Quote:
The trooper wrote that he removed Ms. Bland from her car to more safely conduct a traffic investigation, but “the grand jury found that statement to be false,” a special prosecutor, Shawn McDonald, said.
How? It seems "more safely conduct a traffic investigation" could mean anything. I see people on the side of the road in cuffs beside their or the police's car all the time while the police search the car. I assume this is at the officer's discretion.

#1: (And I'm sure you have) Have you ever tried to "search" for something in a vehicle with the driver sitting behind the wheel? And this one was already hostile.
#2: Officers are trained either way, but for officer safety the proper (and acceptable) method is to have the person get out of the vehicle, pat them down for weapons or contraband, and "secure" them in the back seat of the patrol unit (and they should be handcuffed for officer safety).

The "problem" with that scenario is that DPS patrol units are customarily not fitted with a cages or barriers between the backseat and the front seat (look next time you see one). If they are out on the open road the occasionally must "secure" the person in the passenger seat in front (a practice started in the smaller, sportier units). As in this case he would have relied on locals to transport to the jail or holding facility.

The people I've seen who are handcuffed and standing by the side of the road were stopped by DPS. So this makes sense.

According to the article, the DPS superiors are going to let him twist in the wind. He didn't "de-escalate" the situation whatever that means. Again, I don't see how the state and local govts are going to attract and retain new officers when they potentially put their careers on the line every time you stop a black person.

.. as well as put their lives "on the line every time you stop a ....... person."

The pendulum swings back the other way soon enough. (911 caused a swing!)

A surge in domestic terror attacks will cause the swing back to the post-911 era.

That does not seem racist at all there gnadfly...every time you stop a 'black' person.

State trooper pulled me over last week for speeding on I-10 and couldn't have been nicer. For the record not all of I-10 is 75 mph between Anahuac and Beaumont

His observation is not a racist comment. He's reflecting the prevalent attitudes of the Black community as published by the racially biased media who are expending extraordinary resources trashing the LE community.

But are you Black or White?

Have you seen any particularly apparent reason for the abruptly changing speed limits? From the West to the East? How about from the East to the West? On IH 10, of course!

Iva ... did you change YouRong's post before you quoted it in your posting? If not...

Apparently they still don't allow "colored" people to sit down at the fountain in Nau's Drug!
