Exactly! Beats me too; guess you'll have to ask a libtard to break it down for you. They ain't Texans, they're Austinites...sort of like Portlandianites.

But after you escape Travis County, out toward Mason, for example, it starts getting Texan again.

Fuckers want to ban, or tax the fuck out of, any BBQ grills, even in your back yard.

Imagine the fallout at the HLS&R when they try to pull that shit in Houston.

Haha, yah waiting that long for BBQ is not for everybody. Although I must say that the atmosphere is pretty chill while you're waiting. Lots of people hanging out, drinking, just talking story and having a good time. My wife flipped out when she found out how long I waited in line, yet she'll go Black Friday shopping amongst thousands of crazy shoppers pushing and fighting to save $50

^^^^^^^This!

Goodmans doesn't beat the shit out of the CFS until it's paper thin and looks like a saddle blanket like so many places do.. Just until it's tender.

Don't forget plenty of cash at Gilhoulies though they don't take plastic.

Fucking raw oysters on the 1/2 shell were $18 a dozen when I was there last. Late May. Yeah I know. No R in May but the oysters were still good. All that rain we had this spring kept the waters cool.

Oysters Gilhoulie or Shrimp Gilhoulie(kinda like the Oyster Gilhoulie but with a shrimp on top) were $25 or $28 a dozen. Don't forget the shrimp Slaw.

Taste of Texas is vastly over rated. I have been hearing good things about Taco Bell lately.

A little more high end, since you call yourself a foodie

Underbelly, recent James Beard winner http://www.underbellyhouston.com/
Reef, seafood, James Beard nominee http://www.reefhouston.com/

for Mexican, rather than Tex-Mex
Hugo's http://hugosrestaurant.net/
Caracol, sister restaurant, for seafood http://www.caracol.net/index.html

this looks interesting too
BCN taste, http://bcnhouston.com/

if you are into food-porn
