I'll count myself lucky in comparison to how slow the metro expansion has been moving the past 6 months.
In April/May 2013 I (now thankfully) I begrudgingly agreed to be enlisted by a couple influential neighbors & soon after our fiberhood reached some sort of preregistration interest goal. As KCMO got it first, I was happy to get a hole drilled with capabilities in August 2013 then services connected in September 2013. The $300 for 84 months of ~5up/~1down has been worth every penny. No contract was required to upgrade for a month, prorated billing for mid-month service changes and seamlessly downgraded after peak usage during NCAA tournament. I've been pleased to say the least.

This is hard to follow
the $300 for install for free internet/364 weeks gives you 5mbps up/1Mbps down speeds?
but it ca be upgraded? to 1000mbps. up and down for $70(internet) or $120, internet and TV, right?

thanks

Right so just adding to other posts, letting you know that changing from free to Gb is as simple as a button their customer service team pushes and restarting the wireless router. The billing charges were included on the next statement.

If their cable TV isn't included in initial install, then they'll have to schedule for a later date on cable service.

They need to get something done with AMC before install time or i'm gonna have a serious Walking Dead / Better Call Saul problem.

Default Wired ethernet service, not wifi.

My business is signed up for google fiber to be installed soon. I have cat 5 ethernet installed everywhere with a single wifi connection to a remote computer. The way it was explained to me is that the choke point will be the wifi connection to a single machine. The ethernet hub will need to be replaced from an N model to an AC model. I think the newest hub could be obtained at Microcenter.

WiFi connections are not recommended to handle the higher speed. So our internet work will be done from the main building with wired ethernet.

Wow, I am glad that the cat 5 cable will still handle the job.

I just signed up and was told:
You’re signed up. But…
(my area) needs 50+ more sign-ups to get Google Fiber.

so I suspect people will sign up, already someone near me has made their wi-fi name, "googlefiber, bit*hes"
and no one has GF,
but you think it'll take 6-9 months before I get it?

From experience watching the numbers on the sign-ups from my neighborhood and the surrounding ones, they'll push and scare and cheerlead right up to the last minute and then everybody 'magically' meets the goal.
BIG FIBER 'aint walking on the whole neighborhood over a relative handfull of signups, and all that new infrastructure has to be run right past your curb regardless.

I feel like I'm dating a girl who just lays there when I fuck her and doesnt swallow in terms of my internet
I have clear internet. average upload about 1.7mbps, download .3, ping 400
oh it costs $50/month and does a decent job of streaming netflix(porn now that I'm single)
but GF better be SO much better, I better not be able to imagine.

I don't know if I'll need a new computer to handle all the GIGAbytes of SPEED though
