Pete Rose didn't really cheat, he was just dumb enough to get caught betting on ball games where he was in a position to influence the outcome.

Those teams will have a tough off season thinking what might have been so it remains to be seen if those plays will be a detriment or help the teams to be stronger next season.
You hit on a perfect point here, this is the reason they call it GAMBLING!!!
My experience is that this years playoffs are not as much of an anomaly as some people might think.
I admit I have had my share of experience with sports gambling and there are a few things that I am very glad that I learned before I caused myself very serious harm , 1) Balls that bounce in very unusual and unpredictable ways can determine the outcome of a game. 2) Players and coaches can do stupid things you would never expect them to do. 3) Referees have to make split second judgement calls that can determine the outcome of a game. This years playoff games and Super Bowl are just an example of this. Similar but different things happen during many games during any particular season, we just don't remember them as well because the game wasn't as important. During the regular season the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Patriots in a game that the Patriots were heavily favored to win, nobody expected that. Vegas casinos and private bookies are smart enough to know that the only side that wins in the long run is the house.

Yes it was the dumbest call in the history of the Super Bowl and it determined who won bets and who lost. That's why they call it GAMBLING!!!!

I know that Pete Rose wasn't technically a cheater. He just had a severe lack of personal integrity during a time when he was being paid a very good salary to have integrity. I still wonder how much integrity
Tom Brady has.
