It is also very unlikely he could get elected in Louisiana today, every state wide elected official is republican. While saying you love women may not get you elected in Texas, we do have our share of recently elected with recent legal issues, and lady connections to fraudsters. Which brings me back to the thread, why not decriminalize sexual prostitution, after it is not illegal to be a political whore or prostitute.
I knew Edwin and both of his brothers (Nolan and Marion) and have eaten at the mansion on several occasions. He made me a Lieutenant in the state police so I could carry a concealed handgun (absolutely no official capacity but I could flash the badge and nobody would write me a ticket). My boss was very influential in what they called the "Cajun Mafia". They were not affiliated with Marcello (Italian mafia family) or "Junior" who I also know. They were a group of very wealthy and influential businessmen who supported candidates for personal gain. My boss told me politicians are the best investment he had ever made. Now, Edwin was connected to both groups and everyone knew it. Edwin had been indicted and was under investigation when he won his third term. If you want to get elected in a State wide election, you need Acadiana.

Back to the thread. My boss had rooms at the Holiday Inn, next to the airport, in Lafayette, stocked with girls to entertain oil company executives when they visited. This went on for years.

If they legalize it, they'll find a way to add a tax on it as well. Add the IRS to the list of people who will get involved. Would the ladies have to identify on their tax returns who their clients were?

And how would legalizing it help the moral stigma associated with it. Most of us want to keep this a discreet activity away from those (e.g. SO's) that wouldn't care if it was legal or not.

Can't see the benefit of legalization myself over the potential pitfalls.

Independent contractors (which is what they would be) do not list their clients/customers on a tax return. I knew Providers that filed returns, listing their occupations as entertainers, even escorts.

If they claim income that they deposit in their bank, they have nothing to fear. However, if they claim an income of 40 grand and are driving the latest Lexus, living in a half mil condo then they'll have a lot to fear if she gets the audit notice.

Not sure if legalization would increase the volume of participants from both sides but Nevada would be a good thesis for some term paper.

or if they make a simple mistake like claiming mileage and expenses for the car.

Made that mistake at 3am many years ago and it triggered an audit so they could collect $900 more dollars from me.

You don't have to be a big tax cheat to get audited..

Yep...red flags in a return will get their attention.
Off topic here but the ladies reading this might learn something. If you claim certain "expenses" that don't add up to what you do, the IRS will see it and come knockin'. Deducting a couple grosses of condoms will be "trouble".

Unless they legalize it, lol. Then, think of all the toys, bed sheets, creaky beds, headboards, cracked wall plaster, giant mirrors, sex videos...good God, the list of deductible merchandise could be huge...if I was a Provider I'd say hell yes, legalize it.
