Cool bar to hang out at???

I saw this bar listed on Yelp--it looks kinda funky cool & fun.....anyone been there??

I haven't been there, but I recommend the Piano Bar downtown around Westport. Always playing live bands, great atmosphere, good bar food. Sometimes they have a cover charge, for the bands, sometimes you can get in without the cover charge. But ususally a small fee, $5.00.

Is that the one next to Temptations? Was in there a few times with a client. Strippers from next door would wander in from time to time.

Its been there for a while. Yes next to a SC. The alternative weekly here in town "Pitch" probably has reviews on it. Yes a cigar bar. Street parking so if there's an event at the Sprint center pick a diff night.
I agree that something in Westport could easily have better background music. Or perhaps Crossroads.
The paper edition of the Pitch will be out on wed with all of this weekends music venues posted.

"The Cigar Box is an eclectic and somewhat seedy lounge, like something out of Vegas. In true Vegas style, there’s a hilariously hideous tapestrylike print behind the bar of a naked woman smoking a cigar. Cocktail waitresses with big hair and bigger cleavage are on hand, offering full service at the many cocktail tables throughout the place. (Each table has flowers and a bottle of wine on it.) The clientele here really spells downtown KC. There are Italian men wearing track suits, office secretary types, and businessmen grabbing a cold one at the bar. And, as the name suggests, there are plenty of cigar for sale for smoking outside."

Old school bar, I've always enjoyed it. Plus, it has some of the best Italian food in the city. Like what an Italian grandmother would cook, pass the Sicilian gravy....

If you see a rather large Italian man at the back table, tell Little Turk hello.

That is a fun bar! They have a great Scotch selection. They also do karaoke which I don't participate in for the sake of others lol, but it sure is fun to watch everyone belt out the tunes.

It's also fun to go back and forth from the strip club next door.

Cigar box is pretty much take a seat and sit there. Last I was there guy walked aroound singning Sinatra. Good, but, meh. Food is Exellent tho. I much prefer The Phoenix at 8th & Central. Larger, blues and jazz live music every night. Rather famous K.C. hangout, and just happens to be my neighborhood bar. Safe place for a single lady to hang. Bartenders are female and very friendly.
I'll buy you a drink there sometime. ;-)
