Here is where i heard it: http://money.cnn.com/2011/10/25/pf/A...own_strippers/

Sure it's the exception not the rule but in Miami at club e11evn the dances are 3/$150 so they've got to be pulling in $1000-$2000 a night.

Some doctors elect to only make a certain amount, i.e. they may decide that making $190,000 is better than making $210,000 because it would put them in the next tax bracket, whilst the non tax paying stripper has no such limitations. He could close up shop and play golf for 2 months (working 10), while the stripper worked 355 days (nights, rather), and did something on the side (wink, wink).

Taking one or two skewered examples doesn't prove anything.

Hmph.

I don't believe it. $2,000 a night? Every night ($1,500 on a 'slow' night)? And the IRS doesn't know about it? Where is all the cash coming from? I mean the actual denominations of bills? How many girls supposedly work there? In North Dakota?

ATM's would run out of money, and I would think this would draw a lot of attention (FBI, IRS).

If girls are making this kind of money 'every night', CASH, wouldn't this draw out thieves and robbers, too?

I don't know, Jessica. I'm not saying YOU'RE wrong. It's just that the story itself seems far-fetched.

As someone who had considerable experience with gentlemen's clubs in a former life, Jessica's numbers are not unreasonable.

I've dated two strippers, dancers, whatever you want to call them, both in large cities such as Dallas. Both made anywhere from $100 a night up to around $1000 a night. Sometimes less, sometimes more.

There were plenty of nights that both made only around $100 for a couple nights then other nights it could be $800 or $1000. So, say an average they would make a night would be $400 multiplied by five nights equals $2000 a week, which would mean approximately $8000 per month, give or take.

In a year, that can be anywhere from roughly $85,000-$100,000.
Now, most dancers are not good with money, so they don't save it wisely.
Most don't continuously work five days a week, 12 months out of the year.

A dancer is not going to make $1000 per night in Podunk Kansas compared to Dallas Texas, Los Angeles or New York, etc.

Most of the time, the IRS doesn't know about it. Either the girls don't file returns or they list their occupation as student. Very, very few dancers probably actually have an accountant, keep records and legitimately pay taxes. But that's The same for anyone in the service industry, like waiters. The government is clamping down on tips and reported runnings.

Theft and robbery is a concern with dancers. Many a times they're walking around with a wad of money during club hours and after and it can get stolen, especially out of the locker by other dancers and they do get robbed when they leave the club. So it does happen.

Targeting a dancer by the FBI and IRS is the least of their concerns, they go after the business, the strip club owners who are laundering money or not paying their taxes or committing other crimes.

Anyway, these girls can make good money, if they're smart, save and spend wisely and plan for the future.

Will most of them end up being millionaires? Unlikely.
Do most of them make a pretty good living to pay the bills, take care of their needs, kids, etc. without needing to work 40 hours plus a week? Probably

Apparently, it's more exception than the norm.

Default Air force Amy - at the MLBR

Air Force Amy who works at the brothel near Carson City Nevada called the " Moon Lite Bunny Ranch". If I remember right, she's made 2 million in one year tops and her split was 50% after the brothel took it's half. Then she had to pay taxes on that 1 million.

Did the house pay taxes on their million?

Of course they did, right. That'd be the right thing to do.

A voice of sanity. Thanks. While I am sure some ladies make the numbers Jessica states--i have no reason to doubt her--that is not the norm by any means. I was working on a 6 week assignment a while back and got to know one lady very well. I had a 2 bedroom condo sublet for the time and she moved in with me while I was there and she was between apartments.

Nice, friendly, good looking (not great looking), hard worker. Most nights were between $100 and $500. She didn't do much take out, but some if she felt comfortable with a regular. Occasionally she would come home with $1K, but there were also midweek slow nights where she made almost nothing.

Guys love to take the upper 10% ladies, forget they have any expenses, assume they pay no taxes, and throw those kind of numbers around as "typical net earnings".

Sorry JK. I know we've done the rounds before regarding pricing vs. services, but I'm inclined to give it another go.

I believe your argument unsound as you tend to assume similar volume in sales between $150 lap dances and $10 lap dances. I think even at the most basic level, people recognize that you cannot compare these two products as if they were the same. In my experience in higher end clubs like this, dances are much more rare than in the cheap clubs where there is a queue for the hot girls. Think about it as a Ferrari. The car may be superior and uber expensive, but ultimately Toyota, Ford, Mazda, Honda, GM, etc are all bigger companies because selling on volume often leads to significantly higher profits then a high end product at low volume. As another example, take me. I work in a specialized field of law. My billing rate is over $500 an hour, but there have been months that I ate red beans and rice all month because the clients weren't calling me. Expensive does not necessarily mean profitable.

Also for the record, my ex was a stripper from a high powered strip club. On a good night, she would break the $1k mark, once or twice spiking up above $2k on parties or the like, but she those were exceptions. In general, she would make $600 or $700. She probably averaged about $800 per shift. I'm not saying that's bad. It's great, but she was one of the 10's and was willing to bend the rules to make the bigger bucks (ultimately why I left), so I can't imagine too many others that could squeak a lot more out of this business model.

Bingo! This is the most accurate description/estimate I've ever read. With very few exceptions, girls don't average over $1k unless they are turning several tricks a night inside the club. In the day, there were girls at Treasures (Houston) who did that, but those days are gone.

Back to the original question, lots of sugar baby types I know in Houston have grossed $500k to $1mil within a few years. It's not unusual here at all.
