Actually, Eisenhower started the "advisors("trainers")" buildup to about 8,000 plus when JFK took over (history says JFK was not informed until after he was sworn ... a failure of the transition teams ) and the "interesting" historical part is the role of LBJ in the Senate (and his historical vote when the French asked for help .. denied by Congress). JFK-LBJ continued the ramp up, and post-JFK, LBJ created the GULF OF TONKIN INCIDENT to justify an expansion.
It's painfully obvious that those whining on here about the "ill-fated" 2003 "invasion" IGNORE the "ill-fated" INVASION of S.E. Asia that resulted in 50,000 lost U.S. lives (and probably more unreported, because they were'nt supposed to be there in the first place).
As I previously posted in another thread: Now we have this "predicament"!
http://www.nationalvietnamveteransfo...statistics.htm
"During this Census count (of 2000),
the number of Americans falsely claiming to have served in-country is: 13,853,027. By this census, FOUR OUT OF FIVE WHO CLAIM TO BE Vietnam vets are not."
John Kerry was one of a handful of "Vietnam vets" who I saw BRAGGING about his military adventures "in-Country" ....
For those you "not around" .. it was not a popular topic for BRAGGING RIGHTS! It obviously became "fashionable" by 2000!
All this "chickenhawk" bullshit on here is just that: bullshit.
Now "we" are "blessed" with the presence of a LOUD MOUTH trashing a handicapped person with more sense in his little finger than the LOUD MOUTH, who is complaining because the guy in the wheel chair won't volunteer to go to war ......
kind a like FDR? The wheel-chair bound "chickenhawk" who sent everyone else's sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers TO WAR?
How shameful and shameless have some of you become in your hate?
