A provider is (obviously) free to conduct their business anyway they see it. Whatever keeps one safe. Still, that ad (before it was edited) was hilarious (to a hobbyist at least). I guess a provider can see that as "basic info." I have yet to allow a provider to connect my physical self to my eccie profile so there is no way in hell I would ever give a provider my DOB or occupation. Legit or not, we all need several degrees of separation between the disposable hobby world and our valuable real world.

Eh all about wording I guess (lol or not) ... don't get much resistance with telling me exactly how old they are or what they do for a living (or any other basic details about themselves). What she was asking for just looks fairly harmless (to me) which is why I didn't really get what was so funny but alrighty then.
