I have asked people that same question, usually it is a BAD CHILDHOOD and/or sexual abuse, that is the main response I have gotten from some formerly beautiful people.

Whatever you do to be you, I can dig it... I am heavily tattooed, so I very much appreciate the concept of altering your body in order to express yourself in some way.

I am particularly enamored of tattoos, but I also enjoy piercings of all kinds (to include stretched ears, etc...)
