Actually, Bo Jackson has the fastest time ever at the combine, 4.12. That was before electronic timing. Bo said he was electronically timed sub 4.2 elsewhere.

Bo was the fuckin best. Prolly never see another athlete like him. A good all around guy too. ESPNs 30/30 piece on him is excellent.

Fuck Dri Archer.
Even Michael "Kill a Dog" Vick, Deion "Past His Primetime" Sanders, & Joey "No Stupid Nickname" Galloway crushed 40.
The 40 is just an indicator of potential break away speed. How often in a game does a player get a clear path 40?

Deion made himself some clear paths and once he was in the clear was amazing to watch pull away and man could he close on a ball in the air. Having him on your team was like having an extra man in the secondary. He just wasn't that much of a hitter.
Bo was simply incredible. That Monday night game against the Seahawks is one I'll always remember if only three plays of it.

Sanders ran a 4.21 handheld at the combine. Prolly close to Archers electronic time.

To support DG's point though, Emmit Smith ran a 4.8 40.

True, but Emmitt was more of a mauler with one of the best OLines ever. Tough guy, but he had some huge holes and ran mainly between the tackles. Dorsett blazed the 40, and ran track at Pitt. TD could go the distance. Like his 99 yard run. Bo is the only RB in NFL history to have 2 runs longer than 90 yards. Need speed to do that.
