Ouch, what datacenter doesn't have redundant battery backup + redundant diesel generators? You guys should upgrade . Ones I do business with can remain online for weeks via on-site diesel, even if 2/3 of the generators get physically damaged. Plus because the carriers are local POPs with fiber going to other geographic locations, you keep connectivity.

doesn't matter if you have backup power if the transmission data lines are physically down, most likely the servers sittting in a building with above ground power and data lines.

A reasonable datacenter offering IP connectivity services should have multiple quality on-net carriers, with diverging paths out of the building. Those carriers should peer with AS neighbors in other quality facilities with similar infrastructure contingencies in place. As long as you're a customer of a quality datacenter, a utility power outage should never mean a facility power outage or a network outage. Today every legit facility uses optical fiber and it's typically underground if provided by a quality carrier.

To give you an example a premium top tier datacenter should go decades between impactful infrastructure outages. The outages tend to be due to catastrophic events, i.e. transformer/battery/etc.. explodes taking out other equipment and staring a fire. A once in 500 years flood happens. Shit like that. I do a lot of business in this industry, so I'm very familiar with the risks of modern facilities.

My apologies to everyone for the intermittent service on Monday.

Unfortunately, keeping our data center in Canada has some negatives that go along with the positives. One of the negatives is that companies in Canada tend to be much smaller, meaning they have far less resources than in the US. Add to that the challenges of finding a company that will host a large adult site, our options in Canada are very limited. If you have any suggestions, we are always open to them!

Yes, it sucks that from time to time our servers go down and there are some outages. We are always looking to improve the situation, but I'm not willing to take the site out of Canada. P411 is 100% Canadian owned and operated, and will remain so.

If it's any consolation, my house was without power for 52 hours in -15 Celsius! So I felt the pain too...

Always,
Gina
