The Royals traded for 3 starting pitchers, one of them being Shields, and they have a great young team. You just proved you know nothing about baseball.

Are the the best team in the league? No. The best in the central? No... 2nd worst in the league? Far from it. Get a clue...
And Shields is a really good pitcher. Hes an Ace, and the Royals also got Wade Davis and another player in that trade, a young RF I believe which is a position of need. They have one of the best up and coming catchers, a two time winning gold glover who they just paid, one of the best young defensive short stops in the game who is getting better at hitting, strong depth in center field, and two young corner players who have the chance to be two of the better hitters in the league. Hosmer has all star written all over him. Oh and then there is one of the best young bull pens in the league and Billy Butler who does nothing but hit the ball. They are paying Santana 11.2 million dollars this year, they signed Guthrie to a long deal and are paying him 8.2 million this year.
The only real holes on this team are backup catcher, second base, RF, and the 5th starter. Oh and they still have one of the best minor league systems in baseball.
Oh and you don't know what went down with Zach. The Royals paid him, he wanted out. He didn't want to wait for the young talent to come up. He also has a list of issues as long as my arm. Hes a good pitcher, a really good pitcher, but there were more issues then money with him here in KC.

Oh and I'll bet money they don't finish 2nd worst in the league. Hell the Royals didn't even finish 2nd worst in their own division.

I love the Royals! But let's face it, they have already been mathematically eliminated from playoff competition. They are still fun to watch, and when they win, it's a bonus!

I think you may be wrong with the worst baseball team honey. I am pretty sure it will be the Pittsburgh Pirates.

so who's 2nd worst?
Cubs, Marlins, Twins, Royals, Mets, Rockies, or Other
Cubs are an easy pick, their in year two of Theo Epstein's rebuild... they will be hard to watch as usual... 3 straight losing seasons
Marlins get a new park last year, sign a bunch FA's.... then trade them all away before this season... what a fucking joke.... 3 straight losing seasons
Twins also with a new park.. but in a steady decline 2 years straight
Royals put as little money in the team as possible.. then trade away one of the top prospects in baseball (Wil Myers).... 9 straight losing seasons
Mets have sucked 4 years straight now, nothing will change there
Rockies also in a steady decline 2 years straight

Dawn, the Pirates have been on ascent for a while now and I don't think they'll be anywhere near the bottom of the National League. It'll be Chicago or Colorado. Hell even the Mets.
And I stand by my prediction that the Astros will not finish at the bottom of baseball this year. New league, new faces. Kids don't know the difference. They'll mature or not mature regardless...
Look for Minnesota to drag the bottom of the AL barrel.

so are you saying that not paying or keeping a Cy Young award winning pitcher in Greinke was a great move?
...and trading away the top prospect in baseball for Sheilds (who IMHO was Tampa's third best pitcher) is a better move?
you are aware that Sheilds is a free agent after next season right? ...do you think the Royals are going to pay him?
there is a reason this team has had 9 straight losing seasons... and counting

Anyone remember this? Yeah I'm bumping it. The Royals have a winning season and they are 3.5 games out of the wildcard. Will they get it, no, but far from where any of you predicted them.
I'll be over here enjoying my beer while I'm busy being right.

lol, you're celebrating a 3rd place finish ....in the division.
I think that speaks for itself.

Its a pretty good division with two teams most likely making the playoffs, so yeah... Also being 3.5 games back from a wildcard is great considering where this team was last year. At the very least the Royals jumped 10 wins in a season, that in and of itself is noteworthy.
