Failure to ID is an offense, which includes failing to accurately ID ... and of course driving without a valid license .... along with false identification to a police officer ....

I stand by my original entire statement I made, part of which you chose to ommit for whatever reason was:
"You don't have to say anything.--This is totally correct
Any lie/misinformation you tell them can quickly get out of control.
If you have no drugs or other contraband, stand on your rights (and even if you are holding). All you have to do is identify yourself."--This can be done without saying a word. Just show the cop your legal ID.
