Good question. I had Time Warner back in 2007 and switched to Fios when I moved in 2009. At first I liked Fios, it was faster for Internet. I could not really make a call on whether or not my TV picture was any better quality.
Then after a while and my agreement with them had expired, they continued to go up on me about every 3 month...just nickel and diming me.
I finally called them...which is torture and locked in on a better rate.
However, now my high def box continually switches to "Hit menu" mode and has to update, sometimes even during shows. I'm not sure if it is the box or if they are just sticking me with unwanted advertising.
Time Warner has improved, so their speed and quality may be equal or almost as good.
I think you should keep switching back and forth between them to take advantage of their specials.

Time Warner sucks.....Still using old technology...Coaxial cable in their network and no fiber or even plans to upgrade to fiber.......The network is always going down.....Myself have AT&T UVerse and can not say enough about it.....

I agree, AT&T UVerse 450 with MaxPlus or MaxTurbo internet is the way to go.
I have had them all over the last 15 years. They all have their good and bad points but, AT&T is the best IMHO. Have had it for 3 1/2 years now. no problems at all.

The bad point for Time Warner is there support sucks and let's say if the internet service goes out on Saturday they will tell you that it will be next Thursday or Friday before they can have someone to come out and look at it.....If you quiz them such as a manager they will say that the internet service is a recreational service and there is no guarantee that it has to work 99.999 percent of the time.....

Most big companies go by the 5 9's for their networks to be up and working....

FIOS. Period. If I moved somewhere and they didn't have it, I'd feel let down by God. U-Verse imo is sort of the industry standard, and FIOS blows everything else away incomparably.

I can almost DDoS myself and still download at 30 down.

... ok, not full DDoS, but you get the idea. I have accounts with several ISPs and FIOS is what I use at 'home'.

I have fios and can attest to their crappy customer service also. Waited a week for a service call then they still didn't fix it correctly. Finally had to track down the district supervisor and bitch before I got results.

But when it does work it works freakin fast.

I have Fios and it is great. Tech support is prompt and the solve the problem quickly. I had Dish Network before and that sucks.

I have never had Time Warner Cable but we had them at work and they were ok.

I've had Fios, Uverse, Dish and Time Warner in the last few years. I think Uverse is the fastest - especially when putting a load on the service. (Streaming Netflix on the computer and watching On Demand on the TV while playing an online shooter via PS3) Otherwise, it's about the same as Fios. Uverse has much better service and they responded quicker to my home than any of them when I required a technician. Dish was better TV than Time Warner but I didn't have internet with them. Time Warner was too expensive and took forever to get service up if it dropped.

FIOS doesn't service my area. uVerse has been great so far; very happy with it. I have had TWCable and would never use their service again.

My experience with Verizon:
FIOS internet service has been absolutely reliable.
Home phone has been absolutely reliable.
Cell phone service and 4-whatever, blows Sprint away.
FIOS cable blows. The signal's apparently too weak for the HD box to read from time to time. Phone service slow and annoying (I can recite their script from heart at this point).
I'm hoping that a la carte TV by way of the internet will become available in my lifetime.
