I didn't need Snowden to tell me what I already knew . I watch Front Line on PBS every opportunity I get .
Front Line produced a documentary on the activities of Home Land Security .
Tapping your cell phones to going on your computer and drones in the sky ,Big Brother is watching .
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...ont/view/#more

President Bush described his anti-terrorist measures as narrow and targeted, but a FRONTLINE investigation has found that the National Security Agency (NSA) has engaged in wiretapping and sifting Internet communications of millions of Americans; the FBI conducted a data sweep on 250,000 Las Vegas vacationers, and along with more than 50 other agencies, they are mining commercial-sector data banks to an unprecedented degree.

Spying on the Home Front also looks at a massive FBI data sweep in December 2003. On a tip that Al Qaeda "might have an interest in Las Vegas" around New Year's 2004, the FBI demanded records from all hotels, airlines, rental car agencies, casinos and other businesses on every person who visited Las Vegas in the run-up to the holiday. Stephen Sprouse and Kristin Douglas of Kansas City, Mo., object to being caught in the FBI dragnet in Las Vegas just because they happened to get married there at the wrong moment. Says Douglas, "I'm sure that the government does a lot of things that I don't know about, and I've always been OK with that -- until I found out that I was included."

It looks like this was planned more than a year in advance and it tragically appears he was stealing very significant information. He went to the two communist countries to try to get the best milage out of what he has done.

Apparently he wants fame, fortune, and quite likely to hurt the United States.

I agree fair trial, etc. If it turns out as I suspect, then the only question should be whether the fucker wants a blindfold. I would be happy to shoot him myself (post conviction).

If he has the names of our "spies" and releases them, the tragedy will multiply to irreparable harm.

There is something to be said for examples.

He left China to go to Russia. If you don't want to look guilty, don't do things that make you look guilty. I may need to change my vote. As for now, I'm still saying innocent until proven guilty.

Fact is both he and the empire are both heros and traitors. Technology has made us too lazy to actually do some real investigating when it comes to keeping people safe. And soon when the technology can read our thoughts, we will have laws against bad thoughts, like that movie Minority Report. It maybe some years off but we are laying the track into that direction.
Did he break laws? Yes. Whether or not he has a personal agenda or pre-planned this is irrelevant. The empire gives itself permission and writes its own laws for its own good, not the peoples. Its a self serving entity that hasn't served us in a long time.
It comes down to who is righter and who is wronger(bad grammar but if you know the movie line, you get it)

I try to avoid writing stuff like this, but you appear to be another handle for that idiot, CuteOldGuy.

Does the word "treason" mean anything to you?

Treason does have a legal definition. Snowden has not been charged with Treason. Even the Rosenbergs were not charged with Treason for giving nuclear technology secrets to the Soviet Union. The Walkers, Ames, Pollard, and Lee cases never produced a charge of Treason.

trea·son (trzn) n. 1. Violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies.
2. A betrayal of trust or confidence.

[Middle English, from Anglo-Norman treson, from Latin trditi, trditin-, a handing over; see tradition.]

So which enemy are we at war with........Hong Kong, China, or Russia? The definition of treason ...legal.....is much more complicated than provided by the American Heritage Dictionary.

This just gets better and better. I'm glad the NSA program for spying on Americans was revealed under the Dems.

But Snowden should consider Russia his new home if they allow. Lots of pretty girls there and I'm sure they'll find him an ice palace ala Dr Zhivago lol
