seems typical, that's a giant "fuck you pay me" kick in the balls right after 24 years of hell. it also sounds like being married to her was sort of a "pre-hell" before the wrongful conviction. the judge/state probably just look at him as an ex-con anyway, so they don't care what happens to his compensation.
