Trifling isn't ebonics, it's the Queen's English. It comes from the word trifle, meaning; to not take seriously, be dismissive, treat with little value or importance. Burning required using your context clues. Besides, if you had any kind of life in high school you, should know what "burning" is. I grew up in sticks and even I know what burning means.

The OP had the opportunity not to escalate. It seems to me like she made an honest mistake. If she's always come through in the past, I would have given her the benefit of the doubt. It seems anger won out over reason.
