I left NY years ago for a big career change and greatly enhanced income.
But reading this article from Andrew Sullivan reminds me of some other reasons I left NY and why Texas does have some big advantages:

Sullivan left Washington DC and moved to NYC within the last year.
There are a lot of great thing about NYC and NY state that I miss. But high prices and lousy service wear on you after a while. Sully is just getting used to it.
