Richard Engel was held captive in Syria for about a week and eventually rescued by rebel forces. The media did not report on this during the time he was captured until his release. He is a foreign correspondent for NBC news. He was recently on Jay Leno talking about his ordeal. I was disgusted when he started talking about the press blackout that was implemented during his captivity. He said "the less they knew about us the better". Don't get me wrong, I fully understand why he was grateful for the press blackout and how that helped save his life.
What chaps my ass is why did the media implement a press blackout on his capture and captivity but the media has no problems reporting on US troop movements and operations?
