I am a widower, so I am single and no dependents as well. I short form a 1040.

I think dropping ALL income tax deductions is a great idea. If something is such a good idea, (buying a house or giving to a charity), then do it strictly on it's own merits.

If the DEDUCTION for charitable contributions is removed, less money will be given to charity; that's reality. This will cause charitable organizations to be less able to provide for the poor. The government will be forced to fill the vacuum. That's exactly what liberals want. The higher the percentage of people who depend on the government for survival, the higher the percentage of Democrat voters.
