Congress is currently covered under the Federal Employee policy, a group health insurance plan not unlike other large employers'. The policy is around $1100 per month of which the employee currently pays 30% of the $1100. Congress will receive the 70% currently paid to purchase a policy on an exchange. They are not exempt. The AFFORDABLE CARE ACT is NOT an insurance plan. There are no hospitals, doctors, or clinics that accept ACA. YOU BUY a plan on the exchange SOLD and ADMINISTERED by a private health insurance company such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, ect. You may choose from 4 levels......from Bronze to Platinum on an exchange or ......just buy a plan from WHEREVER. Where did this "Congress is exempt" begin.....it's a meaningless assertion. Like many who are currently covered under existing plans the Administration and 100,000's of Federal Employees will continue to be covered under the Fed Emp Plan. Congress, in one of its moments of insanity voted itself OUT of the Fed Emp Plan. Ted Cruz is covered under his wife's $40000 per year Goldman Sachs plan......isn't that the same company the taxpayer bailed out?
