Heh, heh, ol' Crazylegs Barleycorn is attempting to dazzle the crowd with his fancy moves. The only problem with this is that it has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the voters the subject of the article allegedly bribed would be eligible to vote should many of the unconstitutional voter registration laws hold up.

If the logic is that some people shouldn't be eligible to vote is that they might be bribed, then the same logic can be used to "prove" anything.

Nice try, but two minutes of connecting the dots shows that in this case there are no dots to connect.

You want to point out some of these "unconstitutional" voter laws? Historically the federal government, in accordance with the constitution, left voter eligilibity up to each state as long as constitutional standards were met. Why change that now? Because the GOP has been victimized for many decades and now control many of the state houses. It is not unconstitutional to call for voter ID. Many states have it already. Obama is trying to keep more from getting in on it. Just notice this article; democratic office holders playing with the process. Why did they think they could do it and get away with it? Because they have gotten away with it for years. Democrats disenfranchised blacks regularly until they co-opted the black vote. Now they try to disenfranchise the military vote.

Does voter fraud happen these days (it was more prevalent in past times and more prevalent in local elections and the more local you go because fewer votes make a bigger difference)? Yes. Is it statistically significant in the last decade or two in national or state level elections? No.

In addition, and this is the important part for those of you who don't understand this issue (for those who have a position no matter what, just stick your head in the sand you unAmerican jerks), the type of voter fraud (in the first article mentioned in case nobody actually bothered to read it) is not addressed by the latest voter fraud laws because most voter fraud perpetrated is not counting absentee ballots, including military, buying votes (both of which the AK Dem pol did) and disenfranchisement via attempted manipulation of voting machines.

None of these types of voter fraud will be solved by making people who don't have photo ID get it before they can vote! Plain and simple. Now I'm not saying that we might not need some more voter fraud laws and photo ID isn't a bad idea....except when it disproportionately disenfrancises old, poor and minority voters who usually vote heavily Dem. Now you tell me what these laws are REALLY intended to do? They seem to address a problem that doesn't exist. A Yugo and a Ferrari are both cars but you don't build an autobahn if there is only one Ferrari on the road (unless you are a sheik in the ME).

It is not easy to get registered AND vote without getting caught or the vote not counted (possible yes, but not easy and thousands or millions would be absurd and impossible) and if people did it in large enough numbers to even throw the election for dog catcher to the wrong party it would be all over the headlines. It just doesn't happen very much. Sometimes people, stupid people, also think they are eligible to vote and do it fraudulently, unintentionally, and often get caught. But again, not in an organized way that could change an election or has ever been shown to come close. How many legal voters are too many to keep a few, yes a few dozen over several years, from voting when they are ineligible? Thousands? Tens of Thousands? Hundreds of Thousands? Millions? Well you say... they are just poor, old, minority, dem.... that is unAmerican IMHO.
