OK, I give up. I did a search for the definitions of "thrown fish".
Nothing showed, including the street definitions. I know about a lot of terms, but this is a new one. Help.

A thrown fish, is an undesirable, under-size, or "illegal" fish caught with other fish, usually in commercial net fishing. Once the net spills onto deck, selected fish are thrown over the side, so they can live, per the local/national commercial fishing regs.
Thus, "no thrown fish" is a phrase that indicates a very nice haul. Which is sometimes heard when a fishing trawler heads into dock earlier than expected.
Johnny's use of the phrase indicates that the area he suggests is a good area for Stacey.
Btw, totally different than catch and release.

I would like to congratulate Johnny for stumping JR. But only partial credit because KC folks not knowing open sea phraseology is due to the distance from the open ocean. This reminds me of the instructions the blind prophet Tiresias gave to Odysseus about taking an oar from his ship and to walk inland until someone asks him what it is. Thus, in a land that knows nothing of the sea, Odysseus' journey will at last be over.

Btw2, I agree with Johnny regarding that area. Especially as there's a couple decent whiskey bars along Pennsy.

Thrown fish is a reference to Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. Fresh, whole salmon are sold; when a customer orders up a salmon, the clerk manning the ice counter literally throws the entire fish 20-30' to the packer who packages it for sale. Quite entertaining to watch.

Similar for the wholesaler's shops at Boston Fish Pier. Except "no throw" was ship term.
At the pier the phrases were "throw" or "crate". Throw and the counter guy caught it and wrapped it. Crate was load a crate with x number of ....
