That does make sense and multiple cities have done this for various industries.

The city of Lubbock, Texas shut down a hotel because of numerous crimes resulting in felonies plagued the police. The city felt by shutting them down:

1. Relief from all the 911 calls

2. Puts the owner, GM and staff on notice

3. Minimizes the cities risk.They can be held liable in negligence for not managing situations like this.

In the case of point 3, the guns stolen are a major liability to the city and the people.

what if the store had adequate security in spite of the shut down?


sounds like the store needs to relocate.

I wonder if the Sheriff has any statistics on the number of violent crimes committed with any of those stolen guns. Or is the Shop owner involved in some sort of illegal gun operation and is reporting false Burglaries to cover his tracks, ya never know. All in all closing the shop and seizing inventory for being a victim of a crime is unconstitutional.

The principle is that a private gun owner could be denied ownership rights if they had too many guns stolen in burglaries.
