There's a hand signal I've seen for some time now from college football fans where they press their thumb and index finger together and keep the remaining fingers extended. Does anyone know what this means? I think I've only seen it with college football games because I honestly can't remember seeing it with NFL.

It depends on the team, but it is usually indicating a quick pass/quick slant

It could be a ok sign which can mean wheel route too.

...But I think it's to support Trump. Anti NFL of sorts.

Always thought it indicated a key play/moment in the game. Fans used to hold their keys in between those to fingers at key moments in the game.

It is used on 3rd down. Mostly when the home team is on defense. Officials and player in sports use the same signal to indicate the number 3 (3rd down, player number for reporting fouls in basketball, 3 point shot attempt in basketball, 3 free throws awarded, 3 second violation, play to 3rd base on infield balls, 3 balls on pitch count, etc.
