Default Huh? WTF?!?

Does the Dallas Observer not review its own classified ads. Read this:

http://dallasobserver.backpage.com/T...-area/12087329

"Sorry no African Americans". Really?

NO, this is NOT a thread about whether an escort has the right to select whomever she wants for sex. I'm actually on the side of the providers on that issue. So please don't re-hash those old arguments.

This ad is for LEGAL massage services (supposedly). So, no sex or other illegal activities is supposed to be involved. Just therapeutic massage, like you would get in any legit spa or clinic.

In fact, forget the legal issues of whether or not the masseuses can be sued for discrimination. What on earth was the Dallas Observer thinking when they ran that ad? Or, should I say, NOT thinking?

Try to imagine if a dentist or chiropractor posted a classified ad that stated "No African Americans". Would they run that ad too?

I guess that these ads are posted by clients over the Internet, so maybe the ads are not reviewed by a human being before they are uploaded. Looks like the DO needs some new software.

If they're so legit then why is pic number 2 in lingerie? LOL oh well by doing that, they're screwing themselves and going to get less business. I wonder how they feel about sharing water fountains LOL

I don't know anything about the Dallas Observer's business practices, screening of ads posted, or legal disclaimers.

Regardless of which section the ad was posted on, the phone number given yields this Provider:

http://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?...t=469+222+9292

Who is also on preferred411:

https://www.preferred411.com/dallas/adorablealexis

This girl from the ad, Andrea,

has a review in Austin:

http://eccie.net/showthread.php?p=937325

Going by the type of services rendered, poorly according to the review, I don't know that the no AA line is any different from all other ads in many websites. So the question becomes, is the ad truly for Therapeutic Massage only?

Dallas Observer needs all the help it can get I guess since posting this ad. Ad is not bad, but a little misleading about services. Of course anywhere girls advertise their services they also not their preferences of the type of client they will see, ie mature gents, discreet professionals, etc.

I have noticed a lot of ads lately by girls that state "no AA, asian, spanish". Guess better to know before you call whether or not they will see you. But there are still a lot of girls out there who are not as picky about who they see just as long as the hobbyist is respectful, clean and treats them right.

Not much different from the other online "ad" sources. You pay and the ad goes up. Complaints and it might come down.

Care to define "Therapeutic"?

How did they squeeze in a 30min rate? I thought that was not allowed anymore.

I heard about the 30min being pulled from BP. After seeing the Observer for years I can't imagine them pulling anything that'd make 'em a buck.

Thank you for stating what we all know.

But you are missing the point. In the view of the Dallas Observer, it ISN'T an ad for sex but for legit massage.

The DO has made significant efforts to push the rub-and-tug providers into the Bodyrub section or the Escort section. That's why they killed off any nude ads or ads that explicitly talk about any extras.

So, the massage section is supposed to operate under conventional (for want of a better term) rules. Since the DO is obviously reviewing the massage ads, how did they miss this message?

If you posted a classified ad looking to hire roofers and stated "No African Americans", do you think that would miss that?

No, Backpage/The Observer (one and the same) does not monitor or edit ads posted online, otherwise they would require a valid MT license number for anyone who posts under Therapeutic Massage. Anybody can post anywhere on the site and the only way it gets removed is if enough people flag it, and even then I'm skeptical.

The site gets away with it because they don't own the content. They are just a venue for hosting ads of 3rd party businesses. It's not BP saying No AAs, it's the providers.

Their censoring of ads has nothing to do with "pushing" anybody to post in a certain section, again they could simply require a valid MT# if that was their intent. It's just to cover their asses and comply with some ridiculous new attempt at morality legislation thanks to the Craigslist Killer. They make the same money regardless of where the ad is posted or what it contains, so they don't care.

I just wish they'd start a separate Asian section so my potential clients don't have to root through a gazillion ads for something they know they're not interested in just to find me. My contention is that anybody looking for an Asian massage on Backpage is most likely looking for a specific experience and should be able to find it easily, too.

Just thinck if a provider stated "No receding hairlines, No married men . . ." The niche demographic would be even narrower.
