Obama honors our fallen heroes
On this day when we celebrate the lives and the sacrifice of those who gave all, the President paid his respects and reiterated the continued respect that must be paid to those who keep us free.
I would ask that this not be made into a political thread, but who the fuck am I kidding. Can't we all just agree that these men and women's sacrifice is worthy of respect and leave it at that? There are 50 other threads to throw political shade on here.

We honor all of our veterans, dead or otherwise. Some of us are not dead.

I'm going to contain my emotion and correct you without a mocking tone. Memorial Day is specifically to honor those who died while serving in the military. It has been around since after the Civil War. Veterans Day, on the other hand, is the holiday on which we celebrate ALL veterans, living or dead. It has been a holiday since 1938.

Apparently, the unique Memorial Day remembrance that applies to all veterans, not just those killed defending this country, was passed down to JDIdiot from the Patriarchal Idiot himself.

Nice thought WR. But that's not going to happen, no matter how much you try to "moderate" your own thread.
That is, unless you'd rather see your thread die from lack of interest.

Memorial Day (which used to be called Decoration Day) was originally set aside by presidential proclamation to honor the fallen dead but that was over 160 years ago. Today, Memorial Day (besides being a time for mattress sales) is about honoring all the dead but it has also come to mean the veterans as well. Since we don't normally get a day off for Veterans Day, Memorial Day is as close as it comes. Of course I am a veteran from a family of veterans and can pretty much piss on Baby Killer as I please. (what? Tampon broke the truce and I waited a day)
As for Obama: A selfie with an ice cream cone? That is his personal salute to Memorial Day. The Tomb of the Unknown was a professional duty.
Yes, it is a selfie. The press takes those for him.

You're a disgrace. To yourself and to everyone who fought and died for this country. You simply couldn't admit your error and move on. Having the day off is irrelevant. Federal offices and mail are closed on Veterans Day. I'm not even sure what you're talking about.
You know, I tried to have a nice thread where we could honor the people who died serving this country and you just couldn't let it go. I don't know whether you actually served or not, this is the internet after all, but you've disgraced those men and women's memories here today. Congratulations on letting your need to denigrate me outweigh your need to honor these men and women. You've shown yourself for what you truly are, which is a fucking asshole.

Memorials are for the dead. Period. No matter how you try to spin it.
Veteran's Day is for the ones still living.
And did you REALLY have to get in a stupid jab at Obama? All he is doing is eating an ice cream cone, asshole. How is that wrong?

His hatred is so intensely blinding that it controls his life. He just couldn't help himself. He could be petting a puppy and JD would find something to say about it. This is why no one takes him seriously. Each situation requires a fresh set of eyes. If you're always looking through the same lenses, you don't really see what you're looking at. You see what you want to see.

He wouldn't be petting a puppy. His grandmother taught him not to play with his food.
