Default Do you have Christmas Spirit?

SOMEONE NEEDS OUR HELP!!
I wasn't sure where to post this, and I'm not sure what kind of response I'll get, but I recently became aware of a situation where someone in the hobby has run into some tough times at the wrong time of year.
This person, who shall remain anonymous, has recently experienced some serious medical situations which have resulted in some very large medical bills. Work is in process to attempt to obtain medical assistance of some type to help reduce these bills, but it will not eliminate the obligation. Unfortunately, sometimes deserving people are not afforded the luxury of government medical assistance for many reasons, including having a conscious.
As a result of all this, there is a possibility that a family may be homeless for the holidays.
I wanted to see if all of the talk about people helping people within this hobby is hype or really true.

I'm doing this on my own. The person in need has not asked me to do this, but I see a good person that needs a hand up, so I'm asking for your help to address this situation. As this is anonymous, I'm not exactly sure how to even collect money to help. Perhaps one of you has an idea? I will be contributing $250, and expect nothing in return.

Are you willing to help?? Do you have the spirit??

Please PM me if you prefer to keep your involvement off the boards. I look forward to being amazed by the good people of the Kansas City area.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Here is another option that she might try if enough cash is not able to be raised:

Please call Hillcrest Transitional Housing

Website: (All of their locations are located under the "Contact Us" tab)
http://www.hillcrestkc.org

As for money...

Catholic Charities will help with a good deal of her "living expense" bills. I think they get pretty tapped out the further in the month that it is so have her give them a call tomorrow morning

Default Thanks Dahlia!

Dahlia,

Thanks for the recommendations. I appreciate you taking the time to provide some suggestions.
I do find it somewhat disappointing that this posting has had 57 views, yet you are the only one to respond. Perhaps my opinion of the good people of Eccie is somewhat off base. I expected more.
Hopefully one of these options will provide much needed help.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!!

I think you would have more success if you had a donation account set up with a bank somewhere that people could donate to where they would feel safe knowing that their money was really going to that cause.

Also most people probably do not want to meet anyone in person to hand over cash to a stranger.

We are only human, and just like to be reassured that the money is really going to help someone in need.

I am sure you are trustworthy, but I hope you can see another point of view from an outsider looking in that doesn't know you or your character like your close friends and/or family would have privilege.
